FI 4200

Flow enhancer for heating oil and diesel fuels

ERC FI 4200 improves the flow of heating oil and diesel and prevents clogging of lines and filters in cold conditions.

The Effect

ERC FI 4200 is a mixture of fatty acid amides and olefin derivatives in organic solvents which have been optimised to eliminate specific problems of heating oils and diesel fuels under harsh winter conditions.

Heating oil and diesel are sensitive to low temperatures. They contain paraffin for clean combustion and lubrication. Paraffin forms crystals when cooling. As temperatures drop lower, the crystal formation increases, wherein increasingly larger clumps form, which can clog lines and filters.

The active ingredients in ERC FI 4200 envelop the paraffin crystals and thereby prevent further growth and agglomeration with other crystals. They form additional crystal nuclei. This results in more, but especially small paraffin crystals which can easily pass through the filter.

The Properties

ERC FI 4200:

  • Very good response qualities
  • Considerably better flow behaviour is already provided with very small doses
  • Works safely in nearly all commercial grades of heating oil and diesel fuel


ERC FI 4200 can be added directly when refuelling or, when diluted, to the product flow. Similarly, addition of the additive to the product already present in the tank is possible, but the contents must be stirred. Recommended dosage: 100 – 1,000 ppm.

The dosage depends on the original quality and the temperature of the middle distillate and the CFPP to be achieved. Higher doses are also possible; an impairment of the cold behaviour has not been observed with dosages of up to 2000 ppm. The product into which the additive is dosed ideally has a temperature above the cloud point.

ERC FI 4200 is completely stable and remains free from sediments and appearances of separation in closed containers, even after an extended storage time. Avoid heavy hot and cold influences. Optimal storage temperature > 10°C.
