Why additives?

Additives, i.e. the active ingredients additives for fuels, improve certain properties and prevent adverse effects. ERC develops innovative active ingredients combinations that deliver a specific desired effect depending on the scope of application and customer requirements.

Performance improvement

Performance improvement

The performance additives developed by ERC increase the efficiency and thus reduce fuel consumption, for example, by increasing the cetane number. The additives also work as performance enhancers by cleaning and lubricating the combustion chambers, lines, valves, etc.

Emission reduction

Emission reduction

For residential heating systems as well as for large combustion plants for businesses and in industry, such as coal power plants and waste incineration plants, ERC additives ensure that a wide variety of liquid and solid fuels are burned in accordance with statutory requirements and that dust, soot, SO3 and CO emissions are effectively reduced. ERC also develops emission-reducing additives for the automotive industry, for use in gasoline, diesel and LPG powered engines.

Cleaning and protection of components

Cleaning and protection of components

The spectrum of applications for coating prevention additives for engines, developed by ERC, ranges from system cleaners, soot incineration additives for particle filters to heating and boiler systems and all the way up to engine oil additives. The additives not only remove existing carbon black or black mud deposits, but also prevent new deposits, if applied regularly. In addition, the research department at ERC also develops agents to stabilize the combustion system and the oil cycle, thus improving the combustion process.

Prevention of aging materials

Prevention of aging materials

A common problem is the aging resilience of fuels. Whether in a fuel storage, seasonal vehicle or an emergency generator - if petrol, diesel or fuel oil is stored for a prolonged period of time, aging materials can form that clog filters and valves when the machine is put back into operation and damage the components. The aging antioxidants or stabilizers developed by ERC improve the shelf life.

Tank hygiene

Tank hygiene

Heating oils and diesel fuels can be attacked by microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and yeasts. The consequences of microbial settlement are recurring filter blockages, which make a filter change necessary and cause corrosion. The highly effective anti-fouling additives formulated by ERC, so-called biocides, neutralize the bacteria, fungi and yeasts, and build up a protection against corrosion.

Antifreeze

Antifreeze

With an inadequate protection against cold temperatures paraffin crystals start to form in diesel and fuel oil, which clump together and clog the fuel lines and filters. The ashless burning flow enhancers developed by ERC counteract these effects. These additives keep the paraffin crystals small and the fuel flowing.
